About Hilary … Soul awake and curious, 59 rounds of the sun, currently living along the limestone cliffs of the Mornington Peninsula in South Eastern Australia, keenly interested in the uni-lateral experience of being conscious on Urth during ‘interesting times’. Have been and still am, at various times – youth and welfare worker, teacher, counsellor, trainer, astrologer, public speaker, consultant and writer. Now emerging as a Civil Celebrant. An Eternal Student of Life. [Pic sitting in the Grampians Victoria. ]

About Australia
The land ‘Down Under’ from a different perspective.
The Land of Oz is an island continent on one huge tectonic plate. Situated in the Southern Hemisphere, it has been relatively isolated from the rest of the world for 10‘s of thousands of years. The indigenous folk, the Australian aborigines, are greatly reduced in numbers since the arrival of the Northern European settlers in the mid 19th Century. There is currently a united effort: to learn from them, to assist them in shining in their own light and to share their knowledge and skills, and to assist those who are experiencing suffering in the challenge to adapt.

“Sorry Day”: Reconciliation between newcomers and older tribes, with both party leaders at peace.
The original people and guardians of this land are the indigenous peoples of various clans, tribes and groups within a dynamic family of aboriginal folk who lived here, isolated from the rest of the world, for over 40, 000 years (from what we know). It is delightful to observe the development of a new tradition [2008] – the courteous practise, formally acknowledging local guardians, at the opening of public events. Mythologies link Australia as a section of the Ancient Land of Mu with Hawaii and parts of Indonesia.
There is a continual influx of immigrants into Australia. Our population hovers around the 20 million mark at present. We are the most multi-faith nation on the planet. There are people from every culture and creed living here. The result is a dynamic and vital mix of people whose roots are ‘in thepast’ and whose consciousness re these roots is quite present. We are all slowly and surely demythologising our own heritages! We still do not fully understand what it means to say: “I’m an Aussie”.
It is a young nation on an ancient continent. We are concerned about the future for it is our destiny and our vision. This affects us personally as well as culturally. The climate and natural conditions are challenging and the topic of ‘the weather’ is a commonly accepted subject of introduction and chatter.
The 2000 Olympics held in Sydney, was a major birthing event as the nation expressed itself and experienced its own identity on an International stage.
We are part of the British Commonwealth. Politically and culturally, the modern nation of Australia is seeded from the fatherland of Europe, the motherland of the UK, and more recently has been hangin’ out with cousins - America and the South Pacific region. The (re) discovery of common links with the Asia Pacific region through our indigenous peoples has sparked a more localised cultural influence from long lost cousins on the tree of humanity. The mix of folks and folktales provides a rich platter of fads, fashions, gourmet foods, and lifestyles. This mix is affectionately referred to as ‘Ozland’ with the subtle implication of mythology based collective consciousness. Perhaps this is why Ozzies enjoy a slightly cynical and dry sense of humour. The urge to find our own identity and way of life is slowly emerging. As we come of Age ourselves, may we grow through these troubled times and mature in wisdom and grace.
Astrologically I witness a strong Sagittarian influence in lfestyle and character for those living here and there is a Capricorn societal overlay. The Esoteric references indicate a Virgo destiny and yes, our mineral kingdom is very close to the surface. Much of the plant kingdom renews itself through fire. Our fauna and flora is unique as this land has been free to evolve by itself for thousands of years. We created /launched our Constitution on Jan 1st which is Capricorn. The British umbrella is quite Saturnian. Interestingly enough, we celebrate Australia Day on 26th January which is Aquarius! We do not have a Human Rights Charter-yet. To further indicate a healthy mix - we have two national anthems: One is ‘Waltzing Matilda’ which is sung with gusto and a loving sense of brother/sisterhood by those closest to the land itself. It is very Sagittarian in lyrics and tune and is about the freedom loving bush gypsy. The other anthem is very formal and Capricornian – our National Anthem, ‘Advance Australia Fair’. This is the one you hear at International events.
We have three flags: one is the aboriginal flag which you saw Kathy Freeman wear in her victory lap of the 2000 Olympics, one is the Eureka Flag which is the Southern Cross against a blue sky and represents ‘we, the people’, and the third, the official Australian Flag, bears the Union Jack, and the Southern Cross. These ‘tiers’ are an outward expression of a nation in an early stage of growth.
It takes 3 generations to fully adjust to this country. The first new immigrant generations work hard to establish themselves. By the second generation, the urge to travel, to culturally expand, to explore and discover oneself-is strong. By the third, the ability to respond and to contribute as a creative and participating citizen, emerges. The biological and personal adaptation is challenging.
The character therefore of those who now ’Call Australia Home’ is a unique blend of global human history, the innate human urge to explore, discover and claim one’s freedom and a very gradually emerging consciousness and participation in the civilisation itself. We are a creative and innovative folk therefore, with a shyness and simple humility characteristic of the Seagoat.
There are those who have ‘labelled’ Uluru as the Solar Plexus of the world. If this were true, the people would be far more active in political and social development. I am more inclined to appoint this land as a Sacral chakra. Survival and life here is all about relationships and creativity – in our association with the land and with each other. The Aussie expression,”She’ll be right, mate” and our love of holidays and sport-are very much Sagittarian and Sacral Chakra. It is very similar to the “Aloha” of Hawaiin folk.
We are not ferociously competitive in nature as a people, although we like to ‘do our best’.
In late 2007, the Oz folk voted out the last remnants of the individualistic and capitalist driven ‘Liberal’ party and voted in a more centralist, socialist Labour Party. In truth, the old divisions of Liberal and Labour are fading as both ‘parties’ are affected by the overall evolution occurring on a wider scale. Indeed, more and more policies are being approached by a ‘bipartisan’ co-operative effort. [Doh!]
Astrologically, our new Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, is a Sun/Mars in Virgo with a Leo moon and Capricorn Ascendant. He is an eloquent and diligent character (often referred to as our ‘nerd PM’ for his love of computer technology and a passionate interest in education) - who is running his staff into the ground. He is being gently reminded that ordinary mortals ‘need to sleep’ .
We have now, as well, a female deputy prime Minister in Julia Gillard. She likewise is a feisty, intelligent and independent woman with that spirited nature that is characteristic of the Ozzie women. We females need to be strong in this country. My own celtic heritage is happy here as the need for equality of gender and race becomes apparent soon enough. Indeed, it takes a few turns of the luminary cycles to attune to the land and its influences. The spirit of this ancient continent humbles us.
We Aussies like to accept all folk as being human people and we do not hold court with those who presume superiority. We want our Government to be accessible. Australia has been famous for its fair working conditions, its 8-hour working day, its love of holidays and its natural rhythm of hard work and equally strong rest and play. Much of this fairness and sensible approach to a harsh environment and personal challenges has evolved naturally through acclimatisation. We rapidly learn to ‘go with the flow’ and be flexible in our personal and social approaches to life. We trust and have strong faith in the spirit of life and are deeply hurt by deception and sabotage from those who cling to shadows and seek to manipulate or con us in any way. The light is strong here, physically and spiritually. The truth invariably emerges in such a halogen-lamp environment.
Spiritually and personally therefore, the initiatory effects of this country are powerful. One must be able to release attachment to ways of thinking, belief systems, mindsets, and yes, even familial and cultural ancestries. The resultant void is gradually filled with one’s own creative approach to life. Our climatic conditions and the harshness of the land is difficult to live with daily. We therefore become rather ‘laidback’, not from laziness -for sheer survival. When the going gets tough, we get going. Otherwise, we are conserving our energy. The community is important. We are famous for our Firefighters, our beach Life Guards and our Volunteer mentality. Indeed, ‘have a go’ is emerging as an innate Ozzie value.
This site is an example then, of a 4/5th generation Australian’s spirituality and intellect. Whilst honouring and deeply appreciative of what has been handed to us through the ages, the necessity to apply what we learn to a new world, is a great and wondrous challenge. Even in Astrology, we must discover the essence of this marvellous tool, and re-interpret according to our Southern hemisphere.
The Esoteric Teachings given to those in other lands, times and cultural contexts, likewise are studied for their essential core messages - then we must be able to live it in our own way. We study spiritual works that do not even mention Australia, and this has a profound effect upon our psyche. We are therefore catapulted into a direct relationship with spirit. The ‘intermediaries’ are quite frankly, imports. This may well be the curving of the cycles of the Ages, for much evidence is surfacing that Australia and Hawaii are connected as remnants of ancinet Lemuria.
It is no surprise therefore, that the channelled messages and teachings through ShaVrill and the teams from Shamballa , the essential core messages in Pendulum (which is Galactical in its perspective), and the experiences of awakened and awakening souls - are original.
This is a land that calls forth a simple form of spiritual expression and practise: it is uncluttered and refuses to be held back with ceremonial trappings or old fears and reservation. If we think it and feel it – we do it.
Such is this stream of energy that we often write and create our own mantras, prayers and Invocations. Some of these are shared in the Blog postings. What emerges finally is our own individual relationship to God and the eternal spirit – a spirit which supports and encourages us - which we carry forth through a tumultuous present into a future of unknown and immense possibility. This we offer and contribute to whatever group situation in which we are temporarily an active participant. [See my proposal for a new Preamble to a new Consitution above] .
Spiritual Ozzies are practical, realistic, unassuming and invariably an interesting mix of many different perspectives and teachings. We are strongly 7th Ray. Those who are of the receding 6th Ray therefore often find us difficult to ‘convince’, to persuade, or to impress. Fundamentalist beliefs and dramas as ways of being, flounder after a while here. We are not a ‘glamorous’ nor exotic people and this filters into our spirituality.
Our initiatory experiences are very much centred in every day life and demand very practical application. The final test is invariably, in the real human interactions and challenges that are an innate part of a sometimes harsh but always beautiful land.
Anywhere, anywhen,
the sacred can be made real.
